Art, culture and heritage in Castlegar, British Columbia

The Project

In the summer of 2012, the Castlegar Cultural Advisory Committee met with representatives of the arts and culture community in the Castlegar area. The meeting was convened by the Cultural Advisory Committee to report to stakeholders about the committee’s purpose and activities, to receive feedback on services, and solicit input for future action. In response to the Report to the Cultural Advisory Committee which arose from this roundtable meeting, a new website to replace the existing Culture at the Confluence website was developed and launched in January 2014. To support the increased use of handheld and mobile devices, a further re-design was implemented in autumn 2017, with focus on improved access to information via individual profile listings and simplified Culture Guide and Venue submission forms. At this time, the online Event Calendar was also removed from the website; however, we gladly accept submissions of information and/or posters for local events by . Submissions of information/posters or events will be published on the Culture at the Confluence Facebook Page as received.

The Culture at the Confluence website was designed and developed in an effort to support and promote the wealth of arts, culture and heritage offerings in Castlegar and Regional District Areas I and J with a goal of providing enhanced public access to information about local artists, artisans, clubs, organizations, attractions, activities, venues and events in a single, comprehensive location. In addition to presenting a portal to information, Culture at the Confluence is dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community by providing a means to connect our citizens and to encourage the use of our cultural resources and engage participation in local events and activities.

It is through the participation of all that the Cultural Advisory Committee can achieve the goal of providing complete and comprehensive information, for both visitors and residents, at a one-stop access point for Culture at the Confluence. The information available on this website has been provided collectively by those in our arts, culture and heritage community who are listed throughout these pages. While we strive to ensure that all information is current and correct, if you believe information is obsolete or has been printed in error please contact us. If you know of someone in our cultural community who is missing from our pages please refer them to our submission form.
