Celeste Rode Fine Art

Excited by the limitless variety of our natural world Celeste paints scenes from her travels around the prairies and mountains of Western Canada. Oil painting allows her to capture the simple joys of life whether scenes at the beach or times of rest and relaxation. She paints people in settings that evoke a positive emotion and tell a story. Creating art allows her to capture images of the past and present as well as the optimistic joys of life.

After getting started in Arts Administration she realized she loved creating the art and began a business of mural painting. She spent 10 years painting commissions for commercial and residential clients. Celeste studied with Gene Prokop at Pro's Art school in Edmonton, Alberta for many years, and under his direction grew and blossomed as a landscape and portrait artist. She continues to travel to workshops and conferences held by fine artists around North America, these mentors and teachers have been a great encouragement to her. Celeste is a member of the Oil Painters of America and frequently attends the conferences and shows. Her studies focused on classical realism of both modern and old masters. She credits her style to the combination of the many and subtle influences of great artists.

In 2007 Celeste and her husband decided to make a major lifestyle change. They left their full time jobs and moved to a small town in southern British Columbia, Western Canada. The experiment of simplifying life paid off allowing more time and energy to pursue the creation of her art. She spends her summers at the beach painting people enjoying nature.

Celeste frequently paints on location to capture the essence of natural lighting. Painting allows her the freedom to add romance and idealistic beauty to natural settings. Her and her husband travel often to shows across America and Europe. Celeste believes continual growth and study of great art is essential. She has been showing and selling her work in the Kootenay region since 2009.
