The Castlegar Arts Council works to enhance culture, arts and heritage in Castlegar. Annual Activities include Art Walk, the Castlegar Embetsu Student Exchange and support for the Kootenay Festival. An on-going and very productive partnership with the City of Castlegar, the Castlegar & District Recreation Commission and the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance ensure that arts and culture receive a high profile in Castlegar's community planning.

The mission of the Castlegar Arts Council is to increase and broaden the opportunities for Castlegar and area citizens to enjoy and to participate in cultural activities. The Castlegar Arts Council co-ordinates work and programs of cultural groups in the area, stimulates and encourages the development of cultural projects and activities, acts as a clearing house for information on cultural projects and activities, fosters interest and pride in the cultural heritage of this community, interprets the work of cultural groups to the community, enlists public interest and promotes public understanding.
